Great attention to detail - bathroom products, fresh fruit and magazines in reception of bedroom block. Beautiful bedroom, very comfortable bed, very clean. Good, reasonably priced food in restaurant. Hotel in lovely area, very welcoming staff. Perfect start to our Queen Mary 2 cruise....

One of the receptionists (an older one) was excellent.
One of the receptionists (an older one) was excellent; the other was poor. The room was fine although the front door banged heavily everytime someone came in to the building. The food was fair but no more: the cod was greasy and the cheese starter was poor. The breakfast was just about sufficient (full English) but poor compared to similarly priced alternatives.

The unique country inn aesthetic made our stay enjoyable. The bathroom was moldy.

Recommend it for couples looking for comfort
The room was huge, as was the bathroom with both claw foot bath and separate shower. Breakfast was excellent, I had the full English and all items were really good quality, coffee was also excellent.
It wasn't inexpensive but still acceptable.

The rooms are really well designed with a high quality finish to them, very stylish and comfortable.
The location was slightly less rural than imagined, as the hotel is placed between two main roads that produce a lot of noise if windows are opened which was needed as the room was very hot. Also didn't have an opportunity to have an evening meal at the pub as we were not warned or offered to book a table on arrival, so ended up driving 16+ miles out and around the new forest to find somewhere to have dinner as the pub had no tables available. Would have been good to have a separate reception for the hotel as you had to call the pub if you needed anything. Also having booked the superior double room i'm not sure that was the room we were put in, even though the room we were in was lovely, it wasnt the room we saw on the images on the site.
